A message from our CFA-LA Chairs' Caucus

We strike on Wednesday, 12/6

Department chairs in the Chairs Caucus strongly support our union, CFA, in its bargaining negotiations with CSU Management for decent salaries that keep up with the cost of living; better working conditions and learning spaces; support for lecturers; and racial, gender, and social equity. The fact-finding process reveals that CSU has an enormous cash surplus that can readily fund the CFA's modest requests; yet, CSU continues to reject our bargaining negotiations while giving campus presidents 30% salary raises and raising student tuition by 6% annually for the next 5 years. Underfunding instruction and student services creates an ineffective working and learning environment.

We are in unity with our union, CFA, to transform these current conditions and are committed to working with our strike-ready faculty. We are also in solidarity with our Teamsters 2010 colleague bargaining their contract, who will be sympathy striking with us on Wednesday, December 6th.
